ISO 50001:2011 – Energy Management System Certification (EnMS): The ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management Standard specifies the requirements for establishing, maintaining and improving the energy efficiency of an organization. The main objective of this standard is to enable organizations to reduce their energy use, and in turn their energy costs, while at the same time contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
This standard is modeled on the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards. While these two standards deal with Quality Management and Environmental Management, this standard deals with how an organization could enforce energy savings and thereby achieve energy efficiency.
